Gashora, 11 December 2024 – The Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture (RICA) welcomed Her Excellency Einat Weiss, the Ambassador of Israel to Rwanda, to campus. Ambassador Einat’s visit highlighted agricultural collaboration opportunities between the Embassy and RICA.
Ambassador Weiss praised RICA’s efforts to educate and equip young people with innovative skills that will ultimately help scale agribusiness and ensure food security. “I am looking forward to strengthening collaboration in agricultural research projects,” she said.
Ambassador Weiss toured demonstration plots and observed firsthand the positive impact conservation agriculture has on soil health. She also explored RICA’s Poultry and Swine, Dairy, Grain and Feed Enterprises, gaining an understanding of the institute’s approach to conservation agriculture.
The visit highlighted opportunities to deepen partnerships between RICA and the Embassy of Israel. An Israeli expert, specializing in small ruminant animals, is currently collaborating with RICA researchers on a project to enhance Rwandan dairy goat production and breeding methods.
Israel’s advancements in agricultural and animal sciences provide significant opportunities for shared innovation, and RICA is eager to build on this relationship to drive further progress in conservation agriculture practices.
