New Student Orientation
Introducing new students to life on campus
When they arrive at RICA, all first-year students go through a comprehensive orientation program to introduce them to life on campus and ensure a smooth transition into our academic setting. This orientation program provides students with a thorough overview of RICA’s academic expectations, campus resources, community standards, and more.
One unique part of this orientation is the Itorero program, a Rwandan government initiative focused on instilling national values and fostering a strong sense of patriotism. Through engaging lectures, discussions, and activities, students explore Rwandan culture, history, and the principles of good citizenship.
Campus Life
The new student orientation period also covers essential practicalities, including campus health and safety, an introduction to residential facilities, and guidance on how to use campus resources like IT services and the E-library platform. Students also participate in a guided campus tour to familiarize themselves with their new environment.
Throughout the program, students have the opportunity to interact with RICA faculty, staff, and current students, creating a supportive network as they begin their academic journey. The orientation program concludes with a formal matriculation ceremony, marking the beginning of their studies. This structured program ensures that new students are well prepared academically, culturally, and socially for their time at RICA.
